Today saw the launch of yet another Go International line for Target. I must say, I love the ethos of 'design for all'....and many stores are jumping on the bandwagon.
As a stylist, I spend many days at the posh marble floored stores of 5th avenue, where the uber-rich like to invest in beautiful wardrobe confectionary. One can't help but notice the extravagant artistry of a well designed dress, but the responsible gal in me knows that (for now anyway) paying the rent is more important.
So imagine my delight when the very designers whose runway shows I have drooled over every february and september have done guest appearances at stores that I can actually afford? And the favor goes both ways, as many people get opened up to the work of designers they may not have even heard of (as they have no presence in the shopping malls of this country).
Today it is ROGAN, and he is taking the ethos one step further by making his creations all eco-friendly.
Rogan is the epitomy of downtown NY urban casual chic, and he is one of the most recent winners of the CFDA Vogue fashion fund. I was lucky enough to attend his store opening at 330 Bowery last week where everyone in attendance could have been a member of the band The Kills...including myself.
Check out the line at target.com. Barney's NY liked it so much, they previewed the collection last month.
