the unstoppable Target

wow....I feel abundant.
The feeling that things that I have longed for are within my reach.
So the big news is that TWO designers have announced collaborations with Target.
First designer to the plate is Anya Hindmarch, who I only just mentioned the other day created the "I'm not a plastic bag" which made hippies out of fashionistas. I think this may be a great collaboration and here's why:
whereas I am a huge Botkier fan, I am skeptical of the upcoming Target version, because I'd rather experience her lush designs with premium buttery leather (not pleather). Now, since Anya created the most famous canvas bag to date, I imagine she might not delve into the faux leather arena. I don't need a bag to be leather, I just don't want it to pretend to be. I'm interested to see what materials she will use for Target,  if they will be affordable and green. Of course, one can only speculate, because she does usually work with leather.
Next...drum roll please....
The next shoe designer collaboration will be Sigerson Morrison, whose shoes I have been lusting after for years. Whose shoes are in such high demand that they never seem to have samples available for my photo shoots (damn you PR girls!!). They are so chic and so full of personality. They deftly combine futuristic modernity with vintage inspired designs. Think go-go boots, ballet flats, patent leather, metallic leather. Always unique and playful, could style up any outfit.
But here's the thing: whereas I am a devotee of the guest designer clothing lines at Target, I have yet to buy a handbag or shoe. Mainly because I hate the smell and feel of faux leather, and because at that price point, it is hard to find a shoe that is not going to destroy your foot. But never say never...it all depends on how innovative a designer can be with making the most out of a very low budget. Personally, I think Rogan did great with using all organic cottons and linens.
So...let me know your thoughts on the matter...and watch this space!
Sigerson Morrison and Anya Hindmarch due out October 12th at Target.
