Laurel Hill

I am obsessed with my new leather wing earrings by Laurel Hill. They were given to me by my gal Monique (who I must also thank for designing my dope header). These earring have taken the whole angel wing craze and made it rock...which is always my leaning. My wings are black leather with a touch of gold spray paint. The black adds that 'dark angel' feel and the gold adds a bit of depth and texture. Almost as important, they are the most comfortable earrings I have ever worn. I had actually gotten sick of wearing earrings, cuz they either rubbed my neck wrong, or tugged on my lobes too much. I don't know why I never before thought to use buttery soft leather to hang from my ears.
Anyway, I have waxed on long enough about my new ear confections. The designer, Laurel Hill, actually has a lot more up her sleeve. I took a look at her etsy page (if you are not already obsessed with this website, it's time to develop a habit)...I was surprised to see how well versed she is in silversmithing. I can tell you from experience that it is not easy to do. The intricacy of her anatomical heart pendant makes my wrist hurt just looking at it. Yes, I do believe she sawed that entire piece out by hand (several times). But the most inspiring is her 'banner' pieces that have a ye olde feel, and different messages on them. I have to say that I am really liking fashion with words. I'm going to have to make a mental note of how many things I am drawn to simply because there is writing on it.
