Closet Commando: Audrey meets Punk

Welcome to the premiere entry of a new regular segment entitled Closet Commando. I have waxed on many times about revisiting one's own closet to create new looks. I have also very much preached about personal expression and doing your own thing. Fashion is art, and art is communication. Let the world know who you are, what mood you are in, and what your goals are every time you get dressed. This is what I have to think about when I style, for actors/musicians, fashion shoots, and for advertising. Every outfit tells a complete story, whether you thought about it or not.
So I thought I'd kick off this new segment with an outfit that is very me. First of all, you will note my lovely commando balaclava. This is not an item I sport in real life, but my blog is about the clothes and what they say, so I will always be sporting my "Bandit Mask" (as the Fantastic Mr Fox would call it).
Now about the look: I have always been interested in balance and the tension of opposites. One of my fave examples of this is the delicate balance between elegance and edgy. I like to rock the Audrey Hepburn/Punk-Rock look often. Showing some delicate collar-bone, but sporting a pair of no-nonsense boots: it says, "I'm soft, but don't mess with me". I searched high and low for the perfect moto jacket, finally settling on a fitted cropped 3/4 sleeve piece to keep it as feminine as possible. Also note that I love to pair brass or gold jewelry with grey clothing, as the warmth pops off and contrasts nicely.
Grey Wool Dress: H&M
Leather Jacket: Bona Drag
Socks: Centruy 21 (you gotta scrunch 'em down a little)
Boots: Doc Martin
Necklace: Erickson Beamon for Target
Pyramid stud cuff: Paula Cahen d'Anvers (bought in Argentina)
Gray Resin Ring: Made Her Think
Corset Ring: Godeux (my own jewelry line)
