Okay...I must admit to a minor obsession with designer capsule lines. I have a tendancy to get excited. The thing is, I hate crowds and lines...and I definitely hate waiting for hours in a crowded line (can we say iPhone?). The thing is, Target has been good to me with the whole online thing...why not H&M, damnit? They have one of the most exciting collaborations coming out this November, Commes Des Garcons, and I may have to $%^&ing camp out and elbow bi-atches in the store. Not my idea of fun. I shop for work, I don't need to make it a contact sport. But damn, it looks like it may very well be worth it.
The photo above is by Toby McFarland from W Magazine. True to Rei Kawakubos vision, the line will be mostly black and have that distincitive japanese feel that I love so much. I just love the victorian ruffle coat dress and the deconstructed cropped jackets. However, as a westerner who was burned badly by MC Hammer in the past, I am not really ready for the baggy pant look to come back. Not that it doesn't look uber-cool in Japan, where it heralds the samurai instead of 'can't touch this'. I also don't really foresee myself with my ass on cold concrete all night for polka dots. But regardless, I do think there are some gems in this collection, and I am readying myself for war. Oh, and did you hear that only 20 stores worldwide will get the whole collection? Yeah, I'm gonna need a bag with spikes and some elbow pads.
I am also intrigued as to what the accessories will look like. Probably dark and cool. But I'm gonna stay away from the perfume as it has patchouli in it...which again, we westerners associate with soap dodgers (AKA the unwashed masses, AKA hippies).
So, below are some totally bootleg sneak preview cheeky pics that I found on the web. But really, I'd concentrate more on the properly lit and styled W photo above. It's gorgeous!
