In my job I walk a lot...and by 'a lot', I mean a lot. Aching feet and a bad back are the glamour of being a stylist. And I always wonder why after a day of walking around and carrying heavy bags, I must still go to the gym? My mother tells me that errands are not the right 'sort' of exercise. So yeah, I was excited when I first read about the Fit Flop.
The brand claims to have patented some amazing technology in the soles of their shoes that cushion the feet in the right way to absorb shock and lessen joint strain. Well, as one in constant need of a foot massage, they had me at 'absorb shock'...but they go on to say that their design actually also helps tone your thighs, calves, and glutes. More the better! I have always been one for multi-tasking...so if I can be working-out while I work...hooray!
But here's the hurdle...are they cute? Well, at first, no, they were hideous. Just plain clunky primary colored uber-sporty flip flops. Not chic at all...until Sarah Easley and Beth Buccini of Kirna Zabete came along to design a look for the shoe that would "suit a Balenciaga dress [or] a Rick Owens Jacket". And that they did. As you may have figured out by now, I do like to dress on the edgy/bad-ass side of the spectrum (so, yeah, that would make me a Rick Owens fan). I love me a big bad boot to tone down a flouncy dress, or in the summer a tuff gladiator to harden my girly look.
So after searching for these limited edition shoes online, I finally received them and gave them a test drive yesterday. I walked far and long and I felt like I was on one of those memory foam posture-pedic beds all day. Heaven. Meanwhile, they go great with my look. I am hooked! I have yet to find out how well they'll tone my legs, but my hopes are high.
