As I have mentioned before, I am an absolute sucker for designer collaborations. I watch them like a hawk, and purchase like there is no tomorrow. I think to myself, "At these prices, I can get as much as I want". The thing is, I am reformed now. Yes, I still partake, but with more distinction.
Now I take into consideration what is my style, suits my body type, and the quality of the individual piece. I have found that with these diffusion lines, some items seem super luxe, whereas others are clearly chintsy and cheap.
That being said, the Anna Sui line is now available in Target stores and Target.com. I attended the private shopping event at the pop-up store in manhattan, and got to have a close up look at her "gossip girl" inspired collection. I had high hopes for the white crocheted style dress, but it ended up looking like a polyester doily. However, I can recommend the pieces in the photo above, which look and feel expensive.
Usually, I simply order what I want online, try it on at home (paying careful attention to how it can be styled with clothes and shoes I already own), and then return the items that look bad on me or feel poorly constructed.
Bear in mind that sometimes items simply need to be steamed out, and that a good tailor can often fix fit issues (which is one of the first indicators of a "cheap" piece).
So, what are you waiting for? I have given you my tips, now go forth and shop, discerningly.
