So you have a big event, perhaps an awards ceremony for your career? You are on your way up the ladder, a young go-getter, but perhaps you don't have the paycheck yet to reflect your talent and future status. But here you are, about to be recognized, and you really need to 'dress for the job you want to have'. Or maybe you have plenty of funds, but you are a fickle dresser, never wanting to be seen in the same look twice (you blame the paparazzi).

Yes, you can rent a fabulous dress, in your size, for one night at a mere percentage of the purchase price. As a stylist, I often hit designer rental houses for clients, and it has often been a life saver. It's especially useful when I need to find a particular color or silhouette that may be a few seasons old (and not in the stores), or when the client needs a high-end look, on a limited budget. I am really happy to report that you all can take advantage of this convenient service as well. Rent The Runway is an online rental service that has just launched. They deliver same day in Manhattan, or over-night around the country (unless you want to specify a delivery day). You can rent a back up dress for a cut rate to the original piece, and you can even receive a back-up size of the same piece for free or reduced price (depending). If your original pick does not work, you can send it back within 24 hours for another choice. How is that for customer service?

Meanwhile, they have some great pieces to choose from, and the list of designers is growing daily. I highly recommend going this route for special occasions, so that you can wow the room in a fantastic piece without having to worry if you will ever have another occasion to wear it again (and without breaking the bank!).
