What I wear to work: Styling is not Glamorous.

Some people have a misconception that all stylists are of Rachel Zoe glamour. That we can all walk around in 5 inch heels and let our blackberry somehow do all the work for us. No. Most Stylists do not have a 'studio' where-in fabulous dresses are shipped to them on a daily basis. Most stylists have to schlepp. a lot. We run around trying to find just what the client wants, what we think they should want, and what we think they will change their minds to want. This means a lot of shopping. This means carrying bags, and walking all over the damn place (unless you live in LA, in which case, I hate you cuz you can just drive to the mall).
Of course, I am not talking about Editorial. I'm sure there are loads of women working at magazines that can swan around in heels all day. But whomever is making all the appointments to showrooms, conveniently located alllll around the city, is pounding a lot of pavement (even if she does use a messenger or intern to do all the pick-ups).
So, I dress for comfort. Today it was my trusted boots (for the rain), a pair of skinny jeans by Habitual, and my fave pinstripe shirt. There is nothing like a crisp button-up shirt to go with absolutely everything, so that I can be effortless and just a tiny bit chic as well. I also really love to play with it a bit. I added a multi-color indian silk scarf which contrasted nicely against my stripes. And the Diamante necklace was to bring out a little bit of Audrey Hepburn femininity to my otherwise masculine look.
Basically, I keep it simple, and save the nice dresses for events and parties. I love my job, as I love being creative with clothes, but it doesn't really translate into me dressing like a glamazon all day long. And hey, that's OK.
