RSN Boheme, from one creative flow to another

Yesterday I had the great pleasure of working with the fabulously talented Randee St Nicholas, photographer of the stars (and more specifically, she is well known for her work with Prince). I instantly loved this woman, as she turned up in a pleated skirt and vest combo, with a lacy black bolero...and big old biker boots. I had found a kindred spirit: a gal who will always be a rocker, and one who has to temper her femininity with bovver boots. She was positively glowing with creative energy, and despite having had only 3 hours of sleep the night before, her energy never wavered all day.
So, of course, she took the most amazingly flattering shots of our client (I think every gal needs Randee to take shots of her, so she can feel good about herself for a day). But in between all of that, I was learning that Randee had started a clothing line, that her fabulous outfit was her own design. It was all actually a bit of a happy accident, as happens with most creatives. She was simply bored with what was available in stores, and felt like she wanted something that would represent her better. Something fun, young and fresh, yet ageless.
So for a long time she set to creating pieces, taking extra special care in the tailoring, so that she would have something nice to wear on the red carpet. And when she did finally debut her clothes, it was sort of like opening a can of worms. All of a sudden, everyone wanted to know who made them, and moreover, wanted to know where to get them.
She didn't think too much of it, until one day she was shooting Taylor Momsen, and her stylist insisted on putting Randees line in with the mix of clothes. Taylor had no idea. But sure enough, she kept picking out Randees pieces to wear, and the rest, as they say is history.
The line is called RSN Boheme, and will be hitting stores soon.
If you ask me, I think it is sort of 90's throwback, with a touch of lolita goth, and a smattering of Betsey Johnson. And seeing as how we all seem to be segueing smoothly from 80's retro to 90's retro, I think RSN Boheme will fare very well. On top of that, she designed the clothes to flatter mature womens bodies, and yet 16 year old Taylor loves it too.
Personally, I would love to have the creme lace bolero that Taylor is rocking, as it is a fantastic layering piece. I am also dieing over a fantastic slip dress, inspired by a vintage piece she had found. She offered to make me one in purple with caramel trim to be worn under a grey boyfriend jacket and the requisite big old boots (thanks Randee, you ROCK!). I wish I had a picture, but they are not available yet.
In the mean time, check out her website: rsnboheme.com
