VPL sample sale score!!

Today I hit the VPL sample sale, located at VPL headquarters. I am a huge fan of Victoria Bartlett, the stylist cum designer, as her undergarment inspired wear is always unique, chic, and politically inspired. It was a great day as I scored a fabulous piece for 75% off (the skirt on the left above), and got to meet the designer herself just as she was filming for a new documentary to air on Bravo. Actually, I'm a little fearful that the cameras were rolling as I introduced myself to her and gushed about what a fan I am.

I have borrowed her clothes before for editorials, and have written (rave) reviews of her last 3 runway shows for ZOOZOOM, so it was truly an honor.

Fave Sample Sale!

Last year around this time I went to the fabulous 5 in 1 sample sale in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I was drawn there by the presence of two of my fave accessories designers: Shoe designer Tashkent by Cheyenne, and jewelry designer Made Her Think. I left the store with an empty wallet, a few full bags of gear,and a face flushed with the thrill of the kill. I actually also scored some great dresses by Sarah as well. This time around you can also expect to see works from designers: Uluru,H. Fredriksson, and Sovereign Beck.

These are local NYC designers who are very up and coming...edgy, daring, innovative, and very chic. I couldn't recommend them more. For reals.

Botkier Sample sale

As you all know, I recently reported that fab bag designier Monica Botkier was going to do a guest line for Target....my only reservation being: how good can it be if it's all fake leather?

Well, if you have the same concern as I do, but still can't afford a real Botkier, today may be your lucky day (well actually, tomorrow through sunday). Just trot on down to the sample sale where you may be able to pick up a bag that was formally priced at $695 for $275 (prices are 50%-70 off). Killer jewelry sample sale

My fellow insider over at Zoozoom mag, who I might add, has the most amazing taste, has clued me in to a fantastic jewelry sample sale (thanks Xenia!). 

The works of Mars and Valentine and Echo of the Dreamer (fantastic names by the way...could be bands) will be on sale next week. I find their work to be beautiful and unique. Really luxurious stones and vintage finds, with the kind of eclectic combinations that often make me salivate.

I personally especially love the lost and found vibe of Mars and Valentine. I feel like their work would be coveted for generations in small velvet lined wood boxes. Echo of the Dreamer to me is the kind of jewelry as adorned by the free spirit. The woman who is a world traveller, and wears all her adventures as beautiful mementos of fantastic bonfires on beaches in far away lands.

Sample Sale Season!!

For all the hunter girls..

be very very quuuiet...I'm huntin for waaabits. Well, as a matter of fact, last week I didn't get any rabbits, but I scored some L.A.M.B. at nearly 75% off. I would have warned you guys...but as with any hunting experience, sometimes the prey just jumps out in front of you with no warning at all.

This time, guys...I happen to know where the gentle elk will be roaming. So get ready, because we all know the best finds come from designer sample sales. Personally, I try not to binge at them, but wait for that perfect piece...unique, my size, and slashed down to nearly nothing. Ahhhhh the thrill of the kill.
