Kate Moss for Topshop, new collection in today

Well, the opening of the NYC Topshop may be delayed until next spring, but now that the US has it's own online store, we don't have to miss out. Today the Kate Moss holiday collection was released.  There were many great pieces that I could see, the style is her usual boho-model flair with an added twist of vintage 20's-30's inspired pieces.
My favorite looks are above: skinny brocade pants (I just adore black brocade, after I saw Jason Wu make such great use of it a couple seasons ago), a fabulously classy (and infinitely pair-able) wrap blouse, a beautiful sequined flapper dress, and the perfect 3/4 sleeve leather jacket to give all of the above the edge it needs.

Second round: Alice McCall for Topshop

Ozzie designer Alice McCall guest designed a line earlier this year for TopShop that sold out in a matter of days. In fact, the dress I coveted was sold out online on the first day. So no surprise that she is back for second round, this time, supposedly inspired by Atari.
I absolutely adored her Spring '09 show at NY Fashion Week last month, I still have a picture on my computer desktop of a Topshop dress from last season (that I hope will hit ebay one day), and I love all things '80s (Atari sounds awesome). So I have been diligently checking the Topshop sight. They missed their original launch date, and quietly uploaded pics for four new Alice McCall  items earlier this week (only putting it on the splash page today). I gotta say though, I'm disappointed. I guess that's what I get for anticipating too much. Not that I don't like the pieces, they are nice...but only 4? and none that I will obsess over...maybe I wanted more Atari involved. I hope there will be more on sale later.
in anycase, check 'em out here.

Alice McCall for Topshop, a second chance

Pics above from Alice McCalls fabulous Spring 08 line...not topshop
Earlier this year when I found out that Ozzie designer Alice McCall was doing a line for Topshop, I went online straight away to see what was there. I immediately fell in love with the What Goes Round dress (pictured below).  Apparently so did everyone else, because it was instantaneously sold out.  The top part of the dress is heathered grey jersey with a racer back, and the bottom has a great modern pixelation of a feminine floral pattern. Lethal combo really. So I have been checking eBay constantly, but unfortunately for me everyone who purchased this dress must have been very satisfied with their choice (save one time, when my iPhone eBay app decided to fail me...I blame AT&T entirely, of course).

So why am I picking at this old wound? Well, my friends, there is hope for me yet.  Maybe not for this dress, but for Alice McCall and Topshop.  Her previous collection had been such a hit that she will be creating a second capsule line that will hit Topshop come September 25th, this time inspired by Atari.  And as one who lost at pong as a kid and pretty much sucked at space invaders, but feels an overwhelming nostalgia for the 80's, I will once again be on my computer coveting her creations. So should you...but only after I have made my purchase of choice, thank you very much.

Topshop Fall 08, get ready!

I just love the feeling of antici........pation.
Topshop has released its fall 2008 collection preview pics...and seeing as how the one on Broadway is due to open in October 11th, I think we may have a fighting chance at actually buying some of this stuff.
Below are a few of the looks I loved. View the whole collection here.

The British are coming...the British are coming!

One word: Topshop (technically, two words put together to make one, but whose counting?)
*sigh*
How excited was I to see the article complete with pics in WWD this morning. I mean, we all knew that Topshop was on it's way...but any word breathed about it always gets my feathers ruffled.
Details:
*The first US location of Topshop will be at 478 Broadway.
*It is due to open in Mid-October this year (get yer elbow pads on, girls...and guys for there will be a Topman).
*And the best news of all? It will NOT be 'Americanized'. Yup, British fashion in all its glory, not watered down, not with a spoonful of sugar...the real deal. Yay!
*They also intend to keep the same pricing...no fleecing the Americans for the sweet import goods. Hooray! Topshop is about midrange in price....I shopped there when I was a young starving artist in England, so you won't necessarily go into debt.
*There's plenty of room for all of us: 40,000 square feet, 32 changing rooms, shoe lounge (yay!), and VIP suite for celebs (if that applies to you...email me!)
*And hey, it also saves you the price of a plane ticket...and you don't have to deal with the rising cost of the london underground and the throngs of people at Oxford Circus. It's just now you have to deal with the throngs of people in Soho.
*carefull tho kids, Like H&M, Topshop introduces new styles nearly daily....it could become very addicting.
